You either have to play around with the key (turn on/off a couple of times) or wait for about 15-20 seconds. Only after a hear a clunk from the ignition key area can I turn the key to the off position and am able to remove the key. This will temporally dislodge the solenoid cap and allow you turn the ignition to the natural position where the key can be removed. Repeat as necessary.

WebApr 1, 2024 · Not sure if the cylinder comes out, but worth a quick look. His had a release tab under it, had to remove the bottom plastic around the column to view said release. Turn the key slightly on, push the release (you'll feel it move as you turn), then pull out.. The key will bring the cylinder out with it.

Go to YouTube and look up bump keys or lock bumping for an idea of what to do to your ignition to get it to function with the key you have. (Harder is not better) strike straight on as to not break the key off. 4 or 5 strikes should fix the problem every time. FYI - flooding the switch with WD-40 will not fix the issue, it is a tumbler problem.
