Then use the pipe command. If you create points at the faces in the positions you want the line to end before creating the 3d sketch, you will find it easier to snap onto while creating the 3d sketch line.

So you cannot join two of them to make one new one. But you can delete all the small line segments in a straight line, leaving only the start and end of it, and then draw a new line in their place.
